The Food Industry Management Program offers one-week country-specific or region-specific food executive programs for food retailers and manufacturers from the world's emerging economies. Recent programs have included food executives from:
Participants gain an understanding of the current U.S. food retailing and distribution system, and how it compares to the food systems in their home countries. The programs also feature field trips to wholesale distribution centers and food processing plants, as well as a variety of outstanding supermarkets representing different types of store formats. Typically, these programs have been timed to coincide with the FMI Supermarket Industry Convention in Chicago, and most program participants attend this trade show. The FMI Convention is an excellent opportunity to meet directly with U.S. companies involved in exporting food products and services. For country-specific programs, all course materials, lectures, and discussions are translated into the language of the participants. For some region-specific programs, language proficiency in English is required. Who Should Attend Executives of food retailing, wholesaling, distribution, and processing firms in growing economies who are currently selling food products imported from the U.S. or who may be interested in doing so will find an international food executive program extremely beneficial. For More Information The internationall food executive programs are partially funded by the Cochran Fellowship Program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and are coordinated by the Office of International Programs at Cornell University.
